The Chester Theatre Club is the largest amateur
theatrical group in Chester devoted to mounting productions of a high standard.
Previous productions include The Odd
Couple, A Streetcar Named Desire, The Weekend, Philadelphia, Here I Come!
The Herbal Bed, to name but a few.

What type
of plays do we put on?
We put on a wide variety of plays from
straight drama to comedy, from Shakespeare to modern plays.
We are always open to suggestions from our membership.

Who runs Chester
Theatre Club?
The Theatre Club is run by a Committee
consisting of officers and
ordinary members. Elections for the Committee are held each year at the Annual
General Meeting.

Is it possible
for me to act? Do I have to audition?
For each production we hold open
auditions conducted by the director of
the play and a member of the Committee. Any full member is welcome to
audition for any role.

Is it possible
for me to get involved backstage?
Each play has a production team and we are very keen to get new members
involved; it's a good way to meet other members and find out how
productions are run.

Can I watch
a rehearsal?
Yes, although you would need to arrange this with the director of the
current production.

Is there
a youth group?
We do not run a regular youth group but from time to time we put on
plays which require young people, such as The Winslow Boy and Our Day Out.
Keep an eye out for plays and audition dates.

How many
full members belong to Chester Theatre Club?
We have around 100 full members of both sexes and all ages.

How old must I be
to join as a full member?
We accept full members of 15 years and upwards. However, we do cast
younger "guest" actors
if a play asks for them, such as for Our Day Out , although we do not
have a regular youth theatre. Keep a lookout for future play auditions
on this website and, if you need more information, please contact us.
